CNN reporting“US President Donald Trump has deleted a Tweet citing his “consensual presidency” after the typo was caught by the Twittersphere.”

It all began with the President quoting a NY Post article, by Michael Goodwin, titled – We’re still better off with Trump than Clinton. Then came the typo or autocorrect fail that sent Twitter into a tizzy.

The quote in question read in part: “His is turning out to be an enormously consequential presidency.” However, the President’s first attempt to quote it read: “His is turning out to be an enormously consensual presidency.”

The original tweet was deleted, but not before the easily twitterpated had chimed in with their two cents. According to CNN:

Others on Twitter denied that they had “consented” to Trump’s leadership and a number included the hashtag #StableGenius when commenting on Trump’s typo — referring to the President’s series of weekend tweets proclaiming his sanity.

Citing his unlikely trajectory from businessman to reality television star to US president, Trump wrote: “I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius….and a very stable genius at that!”

And yes, he is a “consensual President” having been elected by the consent of over 60 million Americans and the majority of the Electoral College. He won 30 of the 50 states. Yes, he lost the popular vote, but that is NOT how we elect the President of the United States.

Though the typo grabbed the headlines, the corrected tweet deserves attention as well.

There are undoubtedly many who wish that Hillary Clinton had won. However, there are also many who were rabid anti-Trumpers in the #NeverTrump camp that are coming around.

Despite the fact that many still take issue with his style, personality and unorthodox behavior, they can’t argue with his results. They may not even always agree with the results he achieves, but he is achieving them nonetheless. There’s a lot to be said for actually fulfilling campaign promises, as that is definitely NOT the norm.

President Trump makes the news daily, whether it is consensual or not. People hear his message directly via Twitter, while the “news” obsesses on other things. Even his consensual covfefe tweets make news. President Trump may well be the President most directly connected to The People in the history of America.

That level of connectivity can be both refreshing and disconcerting. A direct unfiltered connection goes against the conventional wisdom of polished, focus group tested, teleprompter communications.

It comes across as refreshingly honest to many on the receiving end. Although, for some it is TMI, too much information. Misstatements, inaccuracies and even typos can shatter the illusion of the all powerful, all knowing, infallible presidency. Though some might argue that shattering the illusions of Washington DC is in fact President Trump’s superpower.
